About The Artist

Christopher Hecker 2

My role as a sculptor is to reflect back upon society the essence of our humanity.  Beyond the pride, and the ambition lies the desired joy of living a life remembered and loved.  Offering three dimensional representations to aid others in finding that joy is my goal.  Stone and steel are my mediums of choice.   Italian training in stone carving and over 20 years of structural and aesthetic construction provide me with unlimited possibilities of design.
When I am in the act of sculpting I often disconnect from consciously thinking about the piece and become an observer just slightly behind my normal point of view.  I may start with a specific emotion, physical pose of the subject, or general subject matter, but from there it is a process of awakening.
I seek to extract the emotional essence of our existence and sculpt it into a three dimensional creation.  My hope is that this illumination of self causes a person to pause and reflect not only on their own life, but also their relationship to the world as a whole.
